So ANYway,
What's the point of this page? Well, as you may have
guessed, I'm now taking myself commercial, and I'm going
into the business of freelance WWW and Graphic Design.
I have resigned my position as Mananger of my printing
firm, and am devoting myself to this work full-time.
My credentials are here for all to see, my Web site has
proven itself capable of maintaining an average hit count
of 150,000+ hits/day. This actually works out to about
3000 *visits* per day. Make sure you don't confuse the
two terms. 'Hits' will tell you how many actual calls
were made to your server, including images, GIFs,
HTML pages, etc., and 'visits' are how many folks
actually stopped by. My stats show that the average
visitor stays around for quite a while, viewing
approximately 40-100 images and/or pages during
their stay. These will be important numbers to watch
for those of you considering bringing your business
onto the World Wide Web. You want as many *visitors*
as you can get, and you want them to actually stick
around long enough to get your message.
This
is where I come in. These days, it's simply not enough
to put your pages up on the web. Your average 'net-surfer'
has seen it all, to hold their attention you've got to
have an edge. How to hold the world-weary, jaded Internet
user? First off, your site had better be well organized,
with the data laid out in an understandable manner. Second,
and sometimes most important, it had better be fun. For the
first time, we have an advertising medium that people
actually have to *want* to see. You will be judged
by how you present yourself. An amateurish site will reflect
badly on your company, just as a professional site will
raise peoples estimation of you and your services.
